Typical Coach Santa Visit
A Coach Santa visit is a short, positive team experience built around kindness, teamwork, respect, leadership, effort, and fun.
The visit is part of Coach Santa's Mission of Kindness. Each week, Coach Santa shares a short video for young athletes, coaches, and families. The video introduces that week's theme and the Word of the Week. The word gives kids something simple to listen for, remember, and bring with them into their own team environment.
When Coach Santa visits a team, the message connects back to that weekly video. The visit usually starts near the end of a practice, team skate, or team activity with a quick bench talk or dressing room visit. Coach Santa talks with the athletes about the weekly theme in a way that is simple, positive, and easy for young kids to understand.
The goal is not to give a long speech. It is to help kids see what the lesson looks like in sport. Being brave. Helping the team. Cheering for others. Trying again. Sharing. Having fun. Showing respect after the game. These are small ideas, but they are the building blocks of being a good teammate and a good person.
After the team message, athletes then have a chance to meet Coach Santa one-on-one. This is the part many kids remember most. Each child gets a small personal moment, a photo opportunity when appropriate, and Caught You Being Nice Trading Cards. These moments are meant to make every athlete feel seen, included, and encouraged.
The Word of the Week can also become part of the one-on-one experience. If an athlete remembers the word from that week's video, Coach Santa can recognize them with a small prize or special moment. It is not meant to test kids or put them on the spot. It is a fun way to connect the video, the visit, and the message together.
Parents, caregivers, coaches, and managers are an important part of the visit. They help keep things organized, support the flow of the one-on-one line, and reinforce the weekly message after Coach Santa leaves. The visit works best when adults treat it as more than a photo opportunity. It is a chance to remind kids that sport is about more than the scoreboard.
Coach Santa's Mission of Kindness is not a holiday program. It is a sport program that uses a well-known holiday character to reinforce important values in youth sport. The visit is meant to be simple, warm, and memorable while helping young athletes understand what really matters: being kind, being a great teammate, respecting the game, helping others, and having fun.
