U15 Northstars Big Dog Toy Drive

On March 2, 2024, the U15 Northstars turned a hockey game into a big-dog toy and food drive for a local pet charity and thrift store.

What the Team Did

  • Partnered with a local pet charity and thrift store after learning big dogs needed toys and support.
  • Worked with Hockey Calgary to get approval for an in-game first-goal toy toss.
  • Organized the drive, invited the pet charity to attend, and collected big-dog toys, dog food, and donations from the hockey community.

Impact

  • Collected big-dog toys, dog food, and donations for the pet charity.
  • Helped put thousands of dollars in value and support back into the local pet thrift store.
  • Gave the athletes a visible example of how their team can use sport to serve a specific community need.
